Sighetu Marmației is 76.8 km, about an hour and a half away by car. It makes a full day out, returning to the guesthouse in the evening.
What to see
- The Memorial of the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance, housed in the former political prison of Sighet. For secondary-school pupils, a history lesson they will not forget.
- The Maramureș Village Museum, with old houses and carved gates brought from the surrounding villages.
For groups
- Opening hours and group prices can be checked directly with each museum.
- The road goes through Vișeu de Sus: you can combine the day with a short stop there, but not with the Mocănița train, which needs a day of its own.
